Aftermarket car audio and car video is the future!

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Car Audio and video in the aftermarket is following the home audio and video market, the way of the professional integrator. Integrators are more than just installers, they are professionals that have a keen sense on what customers expect from their systems and what can be done with certain components in certain vehicles.  We as integrators of aftermarket car audio and car video products need to educate consumers on how critical the aftermarket is to the survival of cutting edge automotive electronics. Without the aftermarket, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, back up sensors system would not be standard equipment in many of today’s vehicles.

The single greatest revolution to OEM car audio has been the iPod. The overwhelming success of aftermarket iPod adaptors and iPod compatible radios forced the the vehicle manufacturers to change the compatibility of factory radios to accept iPod adaptors and have auxilliary audio input jacks. Well that doesn’t sound like much, but the benefit to having the manufacturers create an opening to the factory radio has allowed the aftermarket to exploite the possibilities. So not only can you listen to your iPod, but you can add a satellite radio, video system, bluetooth without changing your factory radio. Any qualified integrator knows that all we need is an opening into the factory architecture.

From here on out, we should no longer refer to installation technicians as installers, rather, integrators. Integrators are enthusiastic individuals who understand the possibilities and want to provide an integrated solution with cutting edge electronics while providing the best possible experience to their customers. Becker Automotive is an integrator, they have created a environment inside a typical Cadillac Escalade that the OEM can only dream of creating. An installer would never have the vision and the understanding that integrator would as to how the customer utilizes and interacts with automotive electronics. A good integrator can provide you with endless amounts of possibilities.

Here is an example of what integration is. Expect more from you car audio and car video integrators!
